Twitter Experiments with New Status Notification, Faster Response Top
Il est évident que le Twitter expérimente avec quelques coups secs additionnels qui peuvent rendre des mises à jour de statut plus faciles et plus rapides pour ses utilisateurs et pourraient aider à diminuer la charge d'arrière saison sur ses serveurs. Une barre semi transparente d'avis (voir le screenshot ci-dessous), glisse vers le bas à partir du dessus de l'écran quand vous mettez à jour votre statut par l'intermédiaire du Web. Tandis qu'en soi, le dispositif peut ne pas apparaître la terre se brisant, le fait que la mise à jour maintenant se sent extrêmement le fluide et est presque instantanée nous fait la merveille si le Twitter commencera à cacher des bips pour la livraison à ses serveurs. Commanditaire dans le passé, quand vous avez frappé le bouton de mise à jour, cela prendrait plusieurs secondes pour le Twitter « confirment » que le bip a été créé avant de mettre à jour votre page. Avec la barre d'avis, le processus est immédiat et sera certainement vu comme plus d'a par des utilisateurs. Est-il possible que le Twitter utilise un certain mécanisme entre le navigateur et l'arrière saison ? Iguodala, Sixers stupéfient la magie dans le jeu un Top
Welcome to the NBA Playoffs, Andre Iguodala and Philadelphia. When the postseason pairings were set last week, not many people gave Iguodala and the sixth-seeded 76ers a chance in their first-round series against the likes of Dwight Howard and the 59-win Orlando Magic. As the Magic built a 79-61 advantage with a little more than a minute left in the third quarter of Game 1 Sunday, a predicted Orlando sweep looked inevitable. But when Howard went to the bench after getting hit in the eye late in the third, the 76ers ignited an offensive run that lasted the entire fourth quarter. Iguodala capped the comeback with a game-winning jumper from the top of the key with two seconds left that pushed Philadelphia to a stunning 100-98 victory. The 76ers outscored the Magic 12-5 and cut the Orlando lead to 84-73 with eight minutes left in the fourth as Howard got treatment on his eye. Philadelphia reserves Lou Williams and Donyell Marshall were huge in the fourth, combining for 19 points in the final frame. Williams (18 points on 7-for-11 shooting, including 3-for-3 from three), pulled the 76ers within two at 86-84 on a three-point play the old fashion way with about six minutes left. Marshall (11 points on 4-for-5 shooting, including 3-for-4 from three) hit two enormous triples late in the fourth, including one that tied the game at 98 with 34 seconds left. Rashard Lewis missed a right-wing jumper for Orlando with 17 seconds left, which opened the door for the 76ers to take their first lead of the second half. Iguodala, with Hedo Turkoglu hanging all over him at the top of the circle, dribbled hard to the right, pulled back and drained a high-arching jumper with two seconds to play. After a Magic timeout, a Turkoglu three-point attempt from the left wing went wide, and the 76ers had completed the comeback and the Game 1 upset. Philadelphia blitzed the Magic with a 35-point fourth quarter, making five threes and holding Orlando to 19 points. Iguodala led the team with 20 points and added eight rebounds and eight assists. Andre Miller (15 points) and Thaddeus Young (14 points) also scored in double-figures for Philadelphia, which got 42 points from its bench. As a team, the 76ers shot 51 percent from the floor and made seven of their 12 three-point attempts. Howard, who collects points and rebounds with ridiculous ease, led the Magic with 31 points and 16 rebounds in 38 minutes. Courtney Lee played well in his playoff debut, adding 18 points. The 76ers pulled off the game one upset just as they did last year when they were the seventh-seed in their first-round series against the Detroit Pistons. Philadelphia won the first game of the series 90-86 in Detroit, but the Pistons ultimately advanced in six games. The Magic are sure to be surprised that they have a series on their hands. They'll look to re-goup though, when the teams meet in game two of the series on Wednesday.

With the NBA and NHL playoffs, the start of the baseball season, and the Manny Pacquiao versus Ricky Hatton fight on May 2, it's a great time to be a sports fan. But the one sporting event I could really care less about is the one that I have to hear the most about, the NFL Draft. The overbearing hype machine called the NFL draft has been in full swing for weeks now. In no other sport is there so much hype in building up to a sport's amateur draft. It seems almost bigger than the Super Bowl. The ESPN channels are saturated with hours of draft analysis. I should be hearing about D-Wade and King James, not Matthew Stafford and Mark Sanchez. I should be hearing about the Detroit Red Wings trying to repeat as Stanley Cup Champion's, not the Detroit Lions and the pick that can turn around a horrible franchise. ESPN's two NFL draft guru's, Todd McShay and Mel Kiper, wait the entire year for only these few weeks leading up to the draft. They take the draft so seriously that it seem's like they would fist fight with anyone who opposes their beliefs. In the end, however, these experts don't know much more than you or I on how these player's will perform in the NFL. I find Mel Kiper especially abrasive at this point, the sight of him causes an instant reflex of me grabbing my television remote and turning the channel. Every year we are guaranteed one thing in sports, that Mel Kiper will hype every top prospect on his "big board" as if they're the next Joe Montana, Lawrence Taylor, or Barry Sanders. In reality we wont even hear most of these players names ever again after draft weekend. Watching "NFL Live" on ESPN a couple of weeks ago I saw Mark Schlereth explain the risk of drafting linebacker Aaron Curry. He gave his reasoning as to why he would not use a top 10 pick to draft him. Kiper, who has Curry rated No. 1 on his draft board, responded by comparing Curry to Patriot's linebacker Jerod Mayo. Mayo was the AP's 2008 Defensive Rookie of the Year. This reminded me of the 2005 NFL draft when Kiper had USC receiver Mike Williams rated the No. 1 player on his draft board. The Detroit Lions ended up selecting Williams with the 10th overall pick, right ahead of eventual Pro Bowlers DeMarcus Ware, Shawne Merriman, and Jammal Brown. Listening to Kiper you would think the Lions had a steal with the pick and that Williams would be another Randy Moss. Instead he had about as bad of an NFL career that is possible. This year's top player's such as Michael Crabtree, Matthew Stafford, Mark Sanchez, and Aaron Curry, seem to be solid if not Hall of Fame caliber talents according to Kiper. But the Mike Williams bust is a perfect example of why too much credibility shouldn't be given to Kiper's predictions. You could just as easily compare each prospect to a bust as you can a Pro bowler. Nobody know's a draftee's NFL future. Each pick in the draft is a gamble whether you're picking a quarterback or defensive tackle. Football may be the toughest sport to transition to from college and there is no telling how a player will fare at the next level. Will Matt Stafford be more Eli Manning or Alex Smith? More Carson Palmer or Tim Couch? There are so many great things going on in the sports world that we shouldn't be bombarded with constant NFL draft coverage. It's really just a giant waste of time.
